Friday Morning

When I stepped out the door onto the deck this morning, I was greeted with this sight:

The Cookie napping in the early morning sunshine.

As always, I call a quiet “Good Morning Ms Cookie” to her and get the ear flick that says “I’m sleeping, but I know you’re there”.
Normally, that good morning call means the other 3 come out of wherever they are. It’s rare that the Girls don’t come to the sound of my voice.
This morning though, no Sable, no Astrid, no Ruby.

Huh.
That’s odd.
But Cookie isn’t upset or acting strange so I chalk it up to they’re in the willows or up at the pine in the back of the pasture and go on with my morning chores.
I let out the hennys, I throw a flake of hay out for the Girls, I open up the piggies shelter (we have this years Bacon Bits on the Farm!! pictures soon, I promise!) and still the other 3 haven’t appeared.
Hmmm…so I’m thinking I oughta go find them.
It’s been 25ish minutes of me puttering around the Farm-yard and they haven’t appeared.

So, I pop into the house, grab my camera thinking that I might find a bird or two to photograph in the pasture, and set out to find my other 3…

Here’s what I found:

Beside the fence, hidden behind an old straw bale…all 3, sleeping in the sunshine.

The 3 of them decided that laying down sleep was needed and left The Cookie to stand guard.

You can only see a hint of Sable’s mane behind that straw bale there…but she’s there. šŸ˜‰

Poor tired ponies and their sunshine filled jello-like bones.
Rough life they have, I tell ya!
Happy weekend, friends.
